I work on helping clients identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors (CBT). I want to help clients recognize their strengths, develop new skills, and have a more positive perspective to effectively navigate their challenges and overcome difficulties.
I want my clients to feel comfortable and safe in therapy, unconditionally accepted, respected, and supported, and never judged. I present with a warm, gentle, calm manner and a positive outlook. I aim to create a non-judgmental, empathetic, authentic, and validating safe space where clients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings without fear of criticism or judgment. I want our sessions to be a safe space where you can feel safe to discuss anything!
My journey started with a personal experience which led me to work with a therapist at a young age to deal with grief. I was able to get meaningful support at the right time. This experience was the beginning of my passion to help make a difference in people’s lives. I graduated with my master's in counseling from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2005. My career includes working in various mental health settings.
Therapy is a partnership built on trust. I actively listen to my clients to understand their challenges and help them identify and prioritize their concerns. We will identify your motivations and reasons for seeking therapy, and begin to explore and understand your values, strengths, and challenges. Together, we can set achievable goals to address concerns and develop strategies to progress toward those goals.
The first session is an opportunity for both of us to get to know each other and lay the foundation for a productive therapeutic relationship. Therefore, we will start with an introduction and establish a trusting and collaborative relationship with each other. We will review and discuss the reason for seeking therapy, understand the presenting problem, symptoms, and concerns. We will identify and set initial goals for therapy and develop a plan tailored to your needs and goals. I will discuss with you the therapeutic approach and techniques that will be beneficial for you in therapy and outline the structure of therapy sessions, including frequency, duration, and confidentiality. I will encourage you to ask questions and provide feedback throughout the session.
